AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A beautiful collection of two handmade Scottish millefiori glass paperweights by John Deacons, offered together as one lot. Both pieces feature intricate traditional millefiori cane work and demonstrate the colourful, highly detailed glassmaking associated with Scottish studio glass.

Large paperweight: A substantial domed paperweight with a rich purple ground and an elaborate concentric floral millefiori arrangement. The design combines blue, pink and white flower canes with twisted red, white and green ribbon canes radiating around the central motif. The paperweight has several surface scratches to the upper part of the dome. Some of these scratches can be felt with a fingernail/fingertip. They are shown in the photographs and should be taken into account when assessing the condition.

Smaller paperweight: A colourful millefiori paperweight with a distinctive faceted/star-shaped form and ruby-red ground. The central arrangement contains numerous blue, white, pink and green millefiori canes.
The original label to the base reads: “Handmade in Scotland by John Deacons.”
There is a small chip to one edge, shown clearly in the close-up photographs. Otherwise it presents very attractively.

Both pieces display beautifully, with particularly vivid colours when viewed in natural light.
