Description from the seller
Winged Animal Brooch — Georg Mendelsohn (1886-1955), Ateliers Émaux d'Igny, France
Rare enamel-on-copper brooch representing a stylized winged animal, in the spirit of Eurasian nomadic art. Piece attributed to Georg Mendelsohn, made at the Émaux d'Igny enamel workshops (France, period 1945-1980). This one was produced between 1945 and 1955.
One specimen of this model, in a different color scheme (dominant turquoise and blue), is housed at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (donor Michel Marq, 2000, inv. 2000.71.6).
The present specimen is distinguished by its own color palette: ivory/cream background, coral-red highlights and dark green inlays, on a gilt bronze mount. Dimensions comparable to the referenced original (approximately 4.5 x 3.7 cm).
Impeccable condition. Attachment system with a pin on the back, functional.
A collectible piece, bearing witness to the know‑how of the Igny enamel workshops and to the work of Georg Mendelsohn, a recognized enameler of the 20th century.
