Description from the seller
Hermès - Kelly 28 Handbag (Sac à Dépêches) - Vintage Box Leather Brown - Year 1953
Splendid and exceedingly rare Hermès "Kelly" handbag (historically named Sac à Dépêches at that time).
A true piece of haute maroquinerie French collecting dating from 1953.
Authenticity marking (Blind Stamp): Letter I alone (without any circle or square), stamped on the back of the sanglon, certifying the year of manufacture 1953.
Material: Box calf of the era, the house's historic and iconic leather. It is characterized by its natural rigidity, its smooth grain and its deep shine.
Color: Vintage brown, original patinated shade, close to Havane / Chocolate tones.
Hardware: Brass, original gold-plated, typical of the 50s, reputed for its great robustness.
Gold leaf mark: "HERMÈS PARIS" under the flap (in keeping with the era, before the introduction of the "Made in France" mention).
Worn: Exclusively by hand.
Historical model originally designed without belt loops and without a shoulder strap.
Features and design: This model is assembled with exterior stitching (Sellier style), giving it superb geometric shape and a timeless trapezoidal silhouette.
The patina of the brown Box leather after more than 70 years is simply exceptional, offering satin reflections unique and impossible to reproduce on modern leather.
