Description from the seller

Rara Lanterna Votiva da Sospensione in Metallo Sbalzato e Vetro Rubino – Fine XIX / Inizio XX Secolo
Fascinating and rare example of a votive lantern (or tabernacle/churchyard lamp) dating from the period between the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century. This splendid liturgical and ecclesiastical object stands out for its artisanal craftsmanship, meticulously detailed, reflecting the popular devotion of the era. The structure is entirely made of repoussé metal and finely chased with rich ornamental relief motifs in a classical and Baroque taste. The four sides host stunning red antique ruby glass panes featuring a raised Greek cross that diffuses a warm, evocative, and subdued light. The lantern is equipped with a fully functional front flap with a side hinge for inserting a candle or oil lamp, a cupola topped by a pinnacle cross, and its original metal suspension chains. A piece of high class, ideal for collectors of sacred art, liturgical objects, or for antique and vintage curios with strong visual impact.
Technical Details:
Era: Late 19th Century / Early 20th Century
Material: Repoussé metal (old alloy with original patina), ruby red glass
Dimensions: 16 x 8 x 8 cm (overall height excluding suspension chain)
Weight: 150 grams
Condition: Excellent overall condition for its age. The metal shows a splendid and authentic patina that enhances its historical charm. The red glasses are intact and free of inclusions. (Please carefully view the photo gallery, which is an integral part of the description).
