Description from the seller
New Series - Crypto Comics - Felix the Cat against a backdrop of.. Felix the Cat
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
As a multidisciplinary photographer, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive, vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made up of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close, it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject depicted. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough treatment is conducted on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created original and independently.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with a built-in back mount. Printing on bright white vinyl, adhered between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft plastification, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops a work as an author and musician including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
