Corné Nuham - Under Pressure – Deflect

Under Pressure is a series of unique steel sculptures created from fully welded cubes transformed under controlled pressure. Rather than imposing a predetermined shape, the process becomes an interaction between the artist's intention and the natural behaviour of steel. Each sculpture emerges from that encounter, making every piece impossible to reproduce.

Deflect explores the moment when pressure is not resisted, but redirected. Rather than absorbing the force head-on, the steel alters its course, allowing a new geometry to emerge. The traces of pressure remain visible, revealing how transformation can arise not only through resistance, but through the ability to change direction.

Handcrafted from welded steel and finished with an industrial coating, this sculpture is a unique, one-of-a-kind original by Corné Nuham.
