Description from the seller
KOI FISH CAPTURED
60x60cm
Acrylic and gold leaf
2024
Description
The work explores the delicate tension between freedom and the ties that transform us. The koi carp, ancestral symbol of perseverance, abundance and strength, advances with serenity while a fine thread of gold leaf surrounds its body. It does not wound nor immobilize it; it represents the experiences, the scars and the invisible bonds that shape our identity.
The movement of the water, built with fluid brushstrokes in turquoises, purples and bright whites, envelops the figure in an almost dreamlike atmosphere. The composition conveys a balance between strength and fragility, inviting the viewer to reflect on what binds us and, at the same time, drives us to move forward.
The details in gold leaf, inspired by the philosophy of kintsugi, turn the marks of the life journey into an element of beauty and value. The work combines figurative language and gestural abstraction to create a contemporary piece with great visual impact and symbolic significance.
