Item Description
This is a Japanese handwoven bamboo flower basket (hanaike) crafted for use in the practices of chado (tea ceremony) and kado (flower arranging). It is believed to date from the Taisho to early Showa period. The body of the basket features a rounded form woven from multiple layers of bamboo strips of varying thickness, characterised by a rich texture and a dynamic, expressive quality.
