Description from the seller
OPPORTUNITY ON CATAWIKI
I am offering a magnificent unique work by the French artist ARTRAT
Born in 1980, ArtRat has always been a street artist passionate about art. Nurtured by street culture and deeply influenced by major figures such as Blek le Rat and BANKSY, he developed an early fascination with stencils and engaged art.
For many years, ArtRat filled Parisian urban space with stenciled rats, a symbol of freedom, resistance, and a critical look at society. Long kept anonymous and ephemeral, his interventions dialogue with the street, passersby, and the moment.
In recent years, ArtRat has chosen to fully own his work and present his creations to the public. His works, while preserving the raw, engaged spirit of street art, now find their place on lasting supports, between urban art and contemporary art.
Through the figure of the rat, ArtRat questions the notions of power, freedom of expression, and the place of art in public space, with an aesthetic that is poetic, provocative, and accessible.
