Antique rise-and-fall ceiling lamp from circa 1920–1930, made of glass (opaline), porcelain, brass and textile, origin France, in good antique condition with minor signs of age and in working order with an E27 fitting.
Description from the seller
Authentic antique 'rise and fall' (monte en baisse) pendant lamp from the early 20th century (circa 1920-1930). This classic lamp is an iconic example of European interior design from that period.
The lamp is equipped with a counterweight system with an egg-shaped ceramic weight and a brass pulley. This makes the lamp easily and continuously adjustable in height, ideal for above a dining table or in a country kitchen.
The shade is made of high-quality white opal glass (or milk glass), which provides a very soft and atmospheric distribution of light. The fixture and details are made of patinated brass, giving the lamp its well-worn, characteristic look.
The cord is fitted with a twisted fabric sheath.
Condition: in good antique condition with signs of age and use that contribute to its unique character (beautiful patina on the brass). The glass is fully intact without cracks or chips. The mechanism works smoothly.
