Pair of large three‑armed Baccarat candelabra from France, circa 1900, in crystal and satin glass with an antique style; each about 62 cm high and 22 cm square base, showing signs of age and past repairs.
Description from the seller
For large three-armed Baccarat candelabras – France, second half of the 19th century
An exceptional pair of impressive three-armed Baccarat candelabras, dating from the second half of the 19th century. Made of high-quality crystal glass and satin glass. The candelabras are unmarked.
The central part of each candelabrum features an elegant female caryatid made of satin glass, inspired by classical sculpture of ancient Greece. Slender figures in draped garments form support for the richly decorated, three-armed candle holders.
The upper parts are made of transparent formed and faceted crystal glass and richly adorned with numerous hanging drops and decorative crystal elements. The whole is crowned by tall, faceted crystal finials. Wide, fluted bases complete the monumental and elegant form of the candelabras.
The candelabras have preserved original elements.
Height of each candelabrum: approx. 62 cm.
Condition historical, appropriate to age. The candelabras show signs of use and earlier repairs. There are local chips and flakes. Two bobèches were glued in the past; one of them also has a chip. One of the supporting elements holding the candle was also glued. There is a chip on the base of one of the candelabras.
Despite the described signs of age and past repairs, the candelabras retain an extremely decorative and representative character. The combination of transparent crystal with matte satin glass, classical caryatid figures, and the abundance of crystal pendants create a particularly striking composition.
The candelabras will be carefully dismantled, and each element packed separately and securely. Shipping by insured courier.
