M.Boutier - Statuette, Le Jardinier - 20.5 cm - spelter, regulate - 1915

This beautiful figure shows a young gardener who holds a watering can in his right hand and carries in his left arm a basket with flowers or vegetables. At the base is the French title "JARDINIER" and on the back signed M.Boutier.

Material (Spelter / Régule): This is an alloy based on zinc and lead that was very popular in France from the second half of the 19th century. It was often patinated to imitate the appearance of more expensive cast bronze.

Such figurative statues were often designed around 1900 by well-known French artists (such as Charles Ruchot or Auguste Moreau)
