Passover Haggadot - Die Pessach-Haggadah - 1929

Rare Passover Haggadah in Hebrew and German, published in Vienna in 1929 by Josef Schlesinger, in its third edition (Dritte Auflage).
Translated and explained by Dr. Philipp Schlesinger and Josef Güns, this beautifully illustrated Haggadah contains numerous colour illustrations, combining traditional Jewish iconography with the highly decorative graphic style of early 20th-century Vienna.
The book includes illustrations depicting, among other subjects:
• the various stages of the Passover Seder;
• the Ten Plagues of Egypt;
• the Exodus from Egypt;
• rabbis and their students;
• the Seder table and its ritual objects;
• Passover ceremonies and traditions;
• biblical and historical scenes.
The original decorated cover is particularly attractive, featuring an elaborate polychrome design in dark blue, gold, red and black, with the publisher's name JOSEF SCHLESINGER – WIEN.
Condition
Condition: worn, with significant defects due to age and use.
The original cover shows considerable wear, especially along the edges and corners, with some loss of material. The spine/edge of the cover has been previously repaired with adhesive tape.
Inside, several pages are detached or partially detached from the binding. The paper shows age-related foxing, staining and discoloration, as clearly visible in the photographs.
Despite these defects, the book retains its original illustrated cover and numerous highly attractive colour illustrations.
The condition has been fully taken into account in the description and the photographs accurately document the condition of the book.
