Claude Terray, born August 12, 1942, in Amsterdam. He studied there at the Academy of Fine Arts and trained in painting. After his studies, he wandered for years through Scotland and Scandinavia. To earn a living and seek inspiration for his maritime art, he worked at sea as a fisherman during this period. He translated his experiences onto canvas, after which he successfully exhibited his work in Scotland, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands, among others. He is also said to have won several art prizes.
