Bronze Tsongkapa statue from 20th century Tibet, 16.5 cm high and 703 g, seated cross‑legged on a lotus throne with vitarka mudra and Manjushri attributes (sword and book) on the shoulders, reverse inscribed with Om mani padme hum, in good condition.
Description from the seller
A well-cast and chiseled bronze figure of Tsongkhapa, measuring circa 16,5cm in height and weighing 703g, seated cross-legged on a lotus throne with his hands in the teaching gesture vitarka mudra, two uthpala lotus flowers blooming at his shoulders. One flower bears a sword, the other a book, these are the attributes of Manjushri to whom Tsongkhapa is dedicated.
Inscribed to the reverse with the Buddist mantra "Om mani padme hum" meaning "the jewel lies in the lotus".
Tibet, 20th century. Good natural wear to the underside indicating signifcant age.
Condition: Excellent, no damages or repairs. A few minor casting flaws, minor wear.
This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
