Le Yack - The Immigrant - Hand signed

From the deck of a ferry, a couple of backs contemplates the silhouette of Manhattan rising above the port waters: Art Deco skyscrapers bathed in light, a suspension bridge to the right, a tugboat pushing its barge. He, in a navy suit and a felt hat à la Sinatra, holds his partner by the waist as she leans against the railing in a light polka-dot dress. In the foreground, a lifebuoy bears the inscription “NEW YORKER.” Semiotically, the painting captures the moment of discovery or return — two silhouettes facing the monumental city, the American promise summed up in a skyline. The palette of blues — suit, sea, and softened buildings — warmed by the summer cloudy sky, creates a mood of cinematic nostalgia. Clean facture, sky worked in broad strokes, spirit of American narrative realism.

Le Yack, emerging French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) in Orléans. He is a art director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited within a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, the United States.
