Ashtray - Brass, Glass - porthole

The object is a vintage ashtray in the shape of a nautical porthole, made of solid brass and glass, presumably dating from the 1950s or 1960s.

In heavy brass with a hinged lid and wingnut screw closures typical of hatch covers or naval portholes. A miniature imitation of a ship's porthole, often used as a collectible item, nautical decor accessory, or an anti-wwind table ashtray thanks to the domed glass lid.
The central part acts as a collection tray, while the upper lid with glass allows closing the interior, hiding the cigarette butts and preventing ash dispersion.
