Description from the seller

Beautiful vintage cycling jersey, an authentic collectible piece dating back to the 1970s, tied to the world of amateur and corporate racing in Italy. The jersey bears the inscription "G.C. C.R. ENEL Viterbo", an acronym indicating the Cycling Group of the Recreational Center for ENEL employees in Viterbo (ENEL stands for Ente Nazionale per l'Energia Elettrica, the Italian company among the main global integrated operators in the electricity and gas sectors. Established as a public entity at the end of 1962, in 1992 it was transformed into a joint-stock company, but the Italian State, through the Ministry of Economy and Finance, remains the principal shareholder). It features the classic blue and yellow colors of the city of Viterbo, arranged in horizontal blocks, a high crew-neck collar in rib knit with a short zip closure on the chest and embroidered (or flocked) writings, typical of cycling apparel production of the era, often made of wool or acrylic blends by historic Italian knitters, as in this case: the original tag of the historic knitwear company "S.lle Tortelli & C." of Florence is present, a historic brand founded in Florence in the early 1900s, for decades a absolute reference for artisanal production of sportswear and personalized knitwear for technical clothing for vintage cycling teams, athletic suits, and outfits for other amateur and professional sports in Tuscany and Italy. The historic headquarters of the company was located at Via Vincenzo Gioberti 115, Florence. Garments bearing this label (particularly vintage wool cycling jerseys) are today considered true vintage rarities, highly sought after by enthusiasts of sportswear, especially cycling, and are perfect for taking part in historic cycling-tour events.
