Description from the seller
Original work by Wags. Halfway between vintage advertising and surreal scene, this series distorts the great icons of popular culture to plunge them into an universe as seductive as it is improbable.
Familiar objects, mythical brands and female figures suddenly change scale and function. Here, a simple bottle becomes furniture, decor and almost a character.
The glamour aesthetic of post-war advertising thus meets the absurd, in images deliberately immediate, light and offbeat.
A playful homage to an era when advertising did not just sell products, but an entire imaginary world.

Biography:
Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the career of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Raised in a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: Invest the money destined to fund his higher studies to invest it in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of an artistic career rich in experimentation.
Alongside his musical career, Wags enters the world of advertising as a copywriter for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he brings his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s campaigns.
The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Wags makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
Wishing to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt signing under this pseudonym in order not to interfere with his usual work.
This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and a treatment of light that feel familiar.
