André Planson (1898–1981) oil painting titled Senza titolo from 1950–1960, in the Impressionist style, 40 × 30 cm, France, signed, original edition, with frame, in good condition.
Description from the seller
André Planson was one of the most esteemed painters of his generation in France. A member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and awarded the Legion d'Honneur, his works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale and are today housed in important public collections and national museums (including the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the museum dedicated to him at La Ferté-sous-Jouarre). His paintings dedicated to the world of dance and theater are among the most sought after by international collectors for their inherent elegance and for the strong decorative impact.
This work perfectly embodies Planson's mastery in capturing life and movement through a vibrant palette and a masterful use of color, clearly inspired by French Fauvism.
The stark contrast between the cool and bright tones of the greens and turquoises of the background and the ethereal whiteness of the tutus enhances the dynamism of the bodies. The brushstroke, typically rich, energetic and textural, gives the canvas extraordinary visual freshness and a poetry of other times.
