Gucci Joy Boston Bag, small version from the Tattoo Heart collection, made in GG Supreme coated canvas with burnished red leather trims, 25 x 14 x 12 cm, vintage with signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Gucci Joy Boston Bag in its small version, belonging to the acclaimed limited collection "Tattoo Heart" launched in late 2008.
The collection was created by Frida Giannini, who was the Creative Director of Gucci at the time.
Giannini expressed an aesthetic inspired by traditional old-school tattoos. The central design stands out for a stylized red heart wrapped in a ribbon with the brand name engraved in gothic typography, flanked by nautical stars.
The designer chose the tattoo concept because it symbolizes a "permanent mark", drawing an analogy with the indelible imprint and the ongoing commitment that the fashion house aimed to leave through its philanthropic projects.
It is crafted on the classic coated canvas with the GG Supreme monogram, accompanied by finishes and handles in textured patent leather in a burnt red or burgundy tone.
This piece was part of Gucci's fourth annual UNICEF benefit campaign.
With the aim of merging luxury with philanthropy, Gucci allocated directly 25% of global sales from each bag and accessory in this collection to support UNICEF programs.
The proceeds were directed to fund initiatives in healthcare, education, clean water, and support for orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Pop star Rihanna, who was 20 years old at the time, was selected by Frida Giannini herself to star globally in press and television campaigns. Her youthful, rebellious profile and her own taste for tattoos made her the perfect ambassador to connect with a more modern audience.
The campaign was spectacularly inaugurated on November 19, 2008 in New York. Rihanna and Frida Giannini led the traditional lighting of UNICEF’s iconic snowflake figure at Grand Army Plaza.
After the urban lighting, an exclusive party and gala dinner were held at Gucci’s flagship Fifth Avenue store and the Plaza Hotel. Attended by celebrities such as Madonna, Blake Lively and Mary J. Blige. This massive media rollout functioned as an impeccable public relations and marketing campaign that positioned the bag as the must-have accessory of that holiday season, achieving outstanding international sales success.
Completely renovated with the best products on the market, although some color transfers could not be completely eliminated, also to avoid damaging the canvas, which is in very good condition as is the rest of the piece.
Fast shipping via UPS.
