Two vintage brass naval portholes from the mid‑20th century, 20 cm glass aperture, 80 cm high, 7 cm deep, mounted on dark wooden bases as wall mirrors, authentic with original patina and serial number 9758350.
Description from the seller
Description: Splendid and authentic naval porthole from a heavy brass (or naval bronze) bulkhead, dating from the mid-twentieth century (roughly the 1940s/1950s). This is not a modern reproduction, but a genuine work piece recovered from naval demolition, preserving its intact dark original patina given by time and salt. The piece features a heavy, high-strength frame with as many as 3 locking dogs (eye-bolt clasps) arranged in a star pattern, a robust configuration typical of portholes installed on exposed ship superstructures. On the edge of the flange there is an industrial-era serial stamp, with the registration/test number 9758350 clearly legible, attesting to its historical authenticity. The porthole has been skillfully valorizated for interior decoration: it is mounted on a solid dark wood base ready for wall installation and has been transformed into an exclusive decorative mirror. Perfect for nautical-themed interiors, seaside homes, themed venues, or luxury nautical decor. Technical specifications: Material: naval brass / heavy bronze Mechanism: Hinged opening with 3 functioning locking dogs Glass diameter (mirror): about 20 cm Condition: Excellent vintage condition, metal not polished to preserve the original patina. Internal mirror intact
