Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist — Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photorealist artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in the urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to iconic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few powerful contrasts an identity instantly recognizable. Created using contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-like aesthetic, the works belong to the street art tradition, balancing spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and rough surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mount. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-lasting color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Biography
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a short-story collection, a graphic novel, a photography book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A vocalist and guitarist, he is currently performing with the band FRENZY.
