Last Night investigates the poetics of the suspended moment. A martini, a few essential elements, and warm light build a scene of apparent simplicity, where reflections and transparencies become protagonists. The work transforms a daily ritual into a silent presence, evoking the memory of a night just past.

Sandra Chinelate, Brazilian, works on the physical and existential inquiry conducted with the tools of figurative painting. A humanities graduate, and as a child a self-taught artist, she moved to Italy and, influenced by her multifaceted sociolinguistic gaze, conducts her painting research with the aim of promoting an encounter among different social subjects, where different ages, skin colors, passions, and human doubts are contemplated from a strong desire on the part of the artist to exalt their facets, safeguarding her characters from any prejudice. She devotes herself with equal fervor to the search for detail, light, and perspective in her beloved hyperrealism technique, in which she has specialized since her earliest artistic experiments. Since 2005 she has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions. She works with oil and mixed media on canvas and on panel.

For the catalog of one of her most important solo shows, she was reviewed by the Roman art critic Lea Mattarella; at the end of that review she wrote: "and if there is pain, if there is fatigue, Chinelate makes Louise words her own, the poet Rumi, the medieval Sufi poet, convinced that 'the wound is the point from which light can enter you'."
