This elegant single-stem vase (ikebana ichirinzashi) is a fine example of Takaoka Doki, the celebrated bronze-casting tradition of Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture, Japan's foremost center for cast metalwork for over four centuries. The vase takes the form of a graceful crane-neck (tsurukubi) shape, cast in solid bronze and finished to evoke the weathered patina of ancient Chinese and Japanese bronze vessels, its surface shifting subtly from bright verdigris green to deep, mossy tones.

The form is refined and restrained, its slender neck meeting a rounded body along a crisp incised line that adds a subtle architectural accent to an otherwise minimalist silhouette. The body bears a raised Imperial chrysanthemum crest (kikumon), lending the piece an air of quiet dignity and ceremonial gravitas. The combination of ancient bronze-ware aesthetics with the chrysanthemum emblem creates a dignified presence, equally suited for displaying a single flower stem or standing alone as a sculptural interior accent, its rich coloration creating a calm and beautiful focal point in any room.

Takaoka Doki craftsmen have practiced sand-mould and lost-wax bronze casting since the early Edo period, and the industry was designated a Traditional Craft of Japan in 1975. This vase reflects that heritage of skilled metal casting, combining functional form with sculptural presence.

Condition
The vase is in generally good condition with a beautiful, undamaged surface patina, though as a long-stored item it shows minor surface dirt and small scratches consistent with age and storage.
