Katana and Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token) imported to France in January 2025

Inscription: Tame Hidaka Michio 42 Sai 日高道雄四十二歳
Hishu Yatsushiro Ju Yoshitsugu Saku 肥州八代住吉次作
Showa Hinoto-U Nen 2 Gatsu 昭和丁卯年二月日

This katana was made by Hishu Yatsushiro Ju Yoshitsugu in February 1987 for Mr. Hidaka Michio at the age of 42.

This blade is classified as Jyojyo Saku among the works of Hishu Yatsushiro Yoshitsugu.

Habaki: Double habaki plated with gold
Blade length: 67.6 cm (26.61 in)
Curvature: 2.0 cm (0.79 in)
Mekugi-hole: 1
Base width: 3.38 cm (1.33 in)
Tip width: 2.97 cm (1.17 in)
Thickness: 0.7 cm (0.28 in)
Sword weight: 885 g
Era: February 1987

Shape: broad, thick blade with deep curvature and long kissaki. Boshi is carved on both sides.

Jigane: fine Ko-itame hada
Hamon: Niedeki Gunome midare with deep nioikuchi and Boshi is midarekomi and pointed.
Characteristics: Yoshitsugu is a Kumamoto-born smith who learned sword-making from Minamoto Moriyoshi, the Mukansa smith.
Sunagashi and Kinsuji; this hamon recalls Kiyomaro. The Jigane is very clear.
