Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988), began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. In this school he had his first contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and what is more important, with workshop work.
Later, he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would in the future be his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school where he already works with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continues his training personally and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning towards bronze and steel as the definitive material for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decides to install his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical research into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, thereby adding complexity and background to the whole of his work, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
