Gor Schahbazyan - (1953) - Het Weesmeisje

Gor Shahbazyan, born on **March 19, 1953 in Yerevan, Armenia**, is an Armenian artist and teacher with an artistic career spanning more than fifty years. He trained at the **Panos Terlemezyan College of Fine Arts** and the **Khachatur Abovyan State Pedagogical University**, combining his own painting with teaching new generations of artists.

Shahbazyan is a member of the **Artists Union of Armenia**. His work has been shown internationally, including in **Switzerland, Belgium, France, Italy, Cyprus, Barcelona, Warsaw, and the United States**, as well as at many exhibitions in his birthplace, Yerevan.

In his painting, the human being is central. With an expressive and personal approach, Shahbazyan tries not only to capture an external likeness but also to reveal something of the subject's character and inner world. At the same time, he leaves room for the viewer's own interpretation and imagination.

The portrait is constructed with oil on canvas, where brushstrokes and the use of a palette knife create a lively and tangible surface of paint.

The painting is framed by an impressive, classically profiled frame in deep black. The broad, glossy profiling gives the portrait extra depth and a stately appearance.

On the back of the canvas there is a handwritten inscription, in Armenian, including the date 1991.
