A itinerant painter, the artist produced numerous photographs during his travels and encounters. He produced 3 volumes "Africa" for Cegna editions in 1977. The theme of Maternity is recurring in Corneille’s oeuvre. The blur is deliberate.

Passionate about Levi-Strauss readings and the early cinematic reports on Africa, Corneille and his first wife Henny Riemens began in 1956 the crazy project of crossing Africa by jeep to be in total immersion. Corneille was not on his first voyage: his passion for Africa awakened very early in 1947 when he decided to reproduce Paul Klee’s journey in Tunisia. Each, equipped with a Leica, Corneille and Henny took numerous photographs of their travels which spanned two years: 1956 and 1957.

Like his friend Lucebert, Corneille enjoyed working in all media.
