In his interpretation of the female body, Paolo Desario searches for the essence, the archetype. The study of form merges with that of pose, always in balance. By shaping the raw material, clay, the artist gives life to a body and a pose crystallized in time and in a metamorphosis. Yet, the female body radiates freedom.

The artistic and polyhedral talent of Paolo Desario shines forcefully from his works, releasing a vitality almost tangible. His inspiration starts from an inner quest that has ancient and primordial echoes as suggested by the sinuous female torsos and the winged figures. He succeeds in uniting reality and transcendence through ever-new insights, knowing how to achieve an original synthesis between the individual predilection for the essentiality of forms and the most attentive contemporary plastic research.

Sculptor and painter, Paolo Desario was born in Barletta, in Apulia, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in the sculpture school of Amerigo Tot. He lives and works in Barletta; he has taught Plastic Arts at the Liceo Artistico Statale "Sacro Cuore" of Cerignola and at the Artistic High School of Corato. He boasts an artistic career begun almost 50 years ago, dedicating himself to sculpture and painting, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions national and international.
