Description from the seller
Biography
Rob van Oosten (born 1963) began painting in his teenage years. Among other things, by copying 'old masters', he discovered what oil paint could achieve. However, his career did not head toward the artist’s path; he became a teacher. Additionally, he continued painting. For many years these were still lifes with flowers, vegetables and fruit, but he noticed that he could not express his creativity sufficiently there. That changed when he began adding sand to his work and using materials such as putty knives and steel brushes. His work became rougher and moved increasingly toward abstraction. Rob finds inspiration in life. It can be beautiful, but it also has many rough edges.
Works by Rob van Oosten have found their way into private collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France and Greece.
