Beniamino Ciccotelli was born in Tollo, in the Abruzzo region, in 1937.

He lives and pursues his artistic activity in Montecatini Terme.

Ciccotelli left his hometown in the immediate post-war period to arrive in Turin, where his artistic temperament, already expressed in his youth with innate ability, met early approval. The magical atmosphere that characterizes Turin's cultural life during the years spanning the 1950s and 1960s directed his attention toward a complex, continually evolving reality. His early interests thus turned toward the “figurative” and the study of industrial landscapes that define the face of the new Turin. A continual attention to the events of great painting in Italy and abroad contributed to the development of Ciccotelli’s personal painting language. His subsequent move to Tuscany marks yet another decisive moment in his artistic journey. Situated in a context where contemporary art and masterpieces of tradition are readily available for study, Ciccotelli finds fertile ground to explore his artistic talent. In the 1980s Ciccotelli returns to the “primitive” values of painting where the subject is merely a pretext to investigate, explore nature in its reality. With the cycle Natura e Pittura, Ciccotelli addresses painting in the contrast between shadows and light, between the depth of space and the structure of surfaces, not shying away from incursions into the repertoire of his old experiences.

Portraits, landscapes, and still lifes, classical or drawn from daily life in a familiar symbiosis with the objects of the craft, explored today without illusions but only “realistically,” are Ciccotelli’s preferred themes. Representations of a reality that seeks to be knowledge and does not tolerate confusions with the ephemeral of current events and fashions. Beniamino Ciccotelli’s works are present in galleries in Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany. His paintings have also been exhibited in San Francisco (CA), New York (NY), Washington (DC), Seattle (WA), Palm Desert (CA) and San José (CA).
