In 8vo, XVI-376-[5 (table of chapters and topics)] pp., binding of tawny calfskin of the period, five-railed spine, adorned with golden roulettes, gold-edged compartments with central and angular golden flowers, title piece in burgundy morocco of the period framed by a gold fillet, gilt title, gilt fillet on the fore-edges, endpapers of green, red, orange, beige mineral paper, fore-edges in green, red, orange, beige mineral (paper), red title and small engraved mark on the title page, historiated initial letters, printed borders, drop capitals, interior fresh, a good and beautiful copy. John Locke (1632-1704) demonstrated the limits of the mind, becoming an advocate of liberal ideas and tolerance, and the opponent of the philosophical doctrines of Thomas Hobbes.
