A limited-edition release from Cardhu, part of Diageo’s prestigious 2021 Special Releases collection. Including Cardhu-Pin!
This 14-year-old Speyside single malt was initially matured in refill American oak casks before being finished in red wine casks, adding an intriguing layer of fruit, spice and floral character. Bottled at a powerful 55.5% ABV (cask strength).
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh and lightly fruity, with notes of white grapes, lychee, green apple, pear and orange zest, complemented by buttery pastry and subtle wine-seasoned oak. With a little water, delicate meadow flowers and honey emerge.
Palate: Creamy and smooth, with sweet toffee, red apple and pear, followed by distinctive floral notes reminiscent of Parma violets. Crisp oak and gentle spice add balance and complexity.
Finish: Short, sweet and warming, with lingering floral perfume, white pepper and a final burst of green apple.
A particularly interesting Cardhu release, combining the distillery’s naturally elegant and floral character with the influence of red wine casks and a robust cask-strength presentation.
