Description from the seller
Bottle number: 11.779 of 30.000
A highly sought-after early release from Port Charlotte, the heavily peated Islay single malt produced at Bruichladdich Distillery.
The PC8 “Ar Dùthchas” was distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2009 after 8 years of maturation. Released at a powerful 60.8% ABV, this limited edition was produced in an outturn of just 30,000 bottles.
A classic early Port Charlotte expression, showcasing the intense peat smoke and maritime character of the spirit, combined with rich dark fruit and a powerful, oily texture. The whisky is presented without chill filtration and without added colouring.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Powerful peat smoke and earthy aromas, followed by dark fruits, raisins and figs. Notes of toffee, vanilla, walnuts and a touch of pepper add complexity beneath the smoke.
Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with intense peat smoke, dark chocolate and a pronounced oily texture. Dark fruits and subtle sweetness develop alongside the smoky character.
Finish: Long, warming and smoky, with lingering peat, dark fruit and gentle spice.
An excellent example of the early Port Charlotte style and an increasingly collectible release for fans of heavily peated Islay whisky.
