Antoni Clavé – Sala Gaspar Barcelona – Original exhibition poster – 1972

DESCRIPTION

Original period poster issued for the Antoni Clavé exhibition held at the prestigious Sala Gaspar in Barcelona during June 1972.

The composition presents Clavé's characteristic plastic language, combining textures, grafismos, fragmented shapes and elements inspired by reliefs and ancient scripts. It highlights the elegant chromatic combination in tones of black, turquoise, white and ochre.

Antoni Clavé (Barcelona, 1913–Saint-Tropez, 2005) was one of the most prominent Spanish artists of the 20th century. His work encompasses painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage and stage design, and is represented in important international collections and museums.

Sala Gaspar was one of Barcelona's reference galleries for modern and contemporary art, associated with artists such as Picasso, Miró, Clavé and Tàpies.
