"Bathline Stories"
In this piece, the personal refuge, intimacy, and contemplative leisure in the private space are explored. A cat, aesthetically inspired by graphic novels and animation, is immersed in a bath tub, holding an illustrated publication of what appears to be a comic, thus acting as a tautological mechanism.
Although executed in acrylic, the pictorial matter has been worked through glazes. This quality has a direct relationship with the aesthetics of comics and illustration, and also allows the tones to breathe with luminosity and freshness over the fabric texture. There is a harmonious coexistence between the precision of the lines and the organic freedom of the color blotches.
The chromatic dialogue between the cool palette of the botanical surroundings and the magenta/violet vibrancy of the main character creates a magnetic focal point, balanced by the warmth of the circular window on the wall.
