Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This research around gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later he was struck by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, extending this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a disturbing, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law plunges into stripped-down, dark universes, inhabited by phantom silhouettes suspended. These indistinct, almost erased presences wander in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes matter. Through a visual writing constructed with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent journey, at the borders of the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mount. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with UV- and humidity-resistant soft lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term stability of colors, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical body of work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
