Black-and-white photograph related to HA Schult's celebrated Venezia Vive project in Piazza San Marco, Venice, carried out in 1976.
The photograph is signed by HA Schult in silver marker on the front.
On the reverse is an original Galerie Valentien, Stuttgart – Königsbau gallery label, bearing the date 1976.

Subastas Galileo, Madrid – Auction, 20 December 2018, lot 491.

In 1976, HA Schult created Venezia Vive in Piazza San Marco, one of his early environmental art projects. The artist covered the square with hundreds of thousands of copies of Il Gazzettino, transforming one of Venice's most iconic public spaces into a striking temporary work of art. The project was conceived as a reflection on mass media, consumption and the relationship between art and the urban environment.
The photograph records this extraordinary intervention in Piazza San Marco and belongs to the photographic documentation associated with the Venezia Vive project.
