After Chardin - Still life

Beautiful painted copy on canvas after A Vase of Flowers by Jean Siméon Chardin (1699-1779), whose original work is held at the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh.
The composition depicts a generous bouquet arranged in an elegant blue-and-white porcelain vase, standing out against a dark background with delicately worked tonalities.
The white, pink, red and blue flowers, as well as a few petals fallen onto the entablature, give this still life a great deal of charm and presence.
This decorative interpretation pleasantly reproduces the tranquil atmosphere and the balance of Chardin's composition.

The work is presented without a frame and is in generally good condition. A small old tear has been restored; this intervention remains visible up close and is precisely shown in the photographs.
