Description from the seller

Christofle – "Japonais" Nutcracker – Silver Plated – France – Art Deco, circa 1925–1940

Elegant silver-plated nutcracker by the renowned French silversmith Christofle, one of the world's most prestigious names in luxury tableware since its foundation in 1830.

This refined table accessory is executed in the sought-after Japonais pattern, distinguished by its clean architectural lines, faceted octagonal handles and understated Art Deco elegance inspired by the Japanese aesthetic movement that strongly influenced French decorative arts during the early 20th century.

Originally designed as a refined dining accessory, this nutcracker combines practicality with timeless French craftsmanship. Its robust construction provides excellent leverage while the beautifully proportioned handles offer a comfortable grip. Besides its intended use for walnuts, hazelnuts and other hard-shelled nuts, it also serves as a highly decorative collector's piece for lovers of Christofle silverware and Art Deco design.
