"Dorflandschaft" by Dieter Wulff
Moodful landscape of the German painter Dieter Wulff. The painting shows the view over fields and meadows onto a small village, whose church tower and red roofs stand out between trees and the surrounding countryside.
Particularly striking is the wide-spread sky with its bright, moving cloud formations. The strong greens and earth tones of the fields create a striking contrast. Through the layering of foreground, village and wooded hills, despite the small format a remarkable spatial depth emerges.
The landscape is executed with lively, clearly visible brushwork. The partly impasto color application gives the surface texture and emphasizes the immediate, painterly character of the work.
Why this work?
A compact, expressive landscape, where especially the strong brushwork, the large sky and the broad layering of the landscape convince. The small format concentrates the portrayal and lends the work the character of an on-site landscape study.

Dieter Wulff was a German painter who began his artistic career with a solid training as a sculptor. From this classical training he developed an independent, expressively shaped visual language. From the 1960s onward, landscapes took center stage in his work, characterized by clear composition, distinctive line work and atmospheric color. In the 1980s Wulff was among the particularly sought-after artists in his region and was active for decades as a gallery owner, teacher and exhibition organizer. Today his works enjoy a continuously growing demand in the collector market.
