Four copper Indian objects dating to circa 1930, including two long-spouted ewers, a baluster vase and a combined table bell and candlestick.
Description from the seller
Decorative collection of 4 Indian copper objects, comprising two long-spouted ewers of different sizes, an elegant pedestal vase and an unusual combined table bell and candlestick.
The two ewers are inspired by traditional Persian and Mughal aftaba vessels. They have rounded bodies, tall narrow necks, long curved spouts, slender handles and hinged domed covers. Their surfaces are decorated by hand with engraved floral, leaf and geometric motifs.
The pedestal vase has a graceful baluster-shaped body with a flared, wavy rim and matching engraved decoration.
The 4th object combines a candlestick with a functional table bell. A candle can be placed in the socket at the top, while an internal metal clapper remains present beneath the bell-shaped base. Green oxidation is visible inside the candle socket.
The pieces were produced in India around the 1940s for the international decorative market. Their forms reflect the long artistic influence of Persian and Mughal metalwork in northern India.
The collection is in good vintage condition, with surface scratches, tarnishing, oxidation, minor irregularities and natural patina consistent with its age and handmade character. The pieces have not been highly polished, allowing the original aged appearance to remain visible.
