Duck decoy - GANSO BRANT AMERICANO - Wood

Exclusive stake traditional old hunting decoy goose, specifically the North American Brant, carved in lightweight solid wood from the mid-20th century. A piece of great historical and aesthetic value, displaying a takeoff or flight-escape posture due to the 7mm hole angle where the rod was inserted (about 30 degrees and 6 cm deep) with the wings fixed, probably attached to the body which is oriented upward. The duck adopts its flight tilt by snugging under a river reed.
It is life-size and measures 81 cm from wing to wing and 45 cm from beak to tail. It is hand-painted with mastery and detailed work. Colors: black, gray, and blue-green. It is a male. It has a short, robust beak. Yellow and black circular finish around the eyes. Meticulous gouge-carved plumage. It coexists with the Palmero Porrón Duck.
It presents a beautiful aged patina with natural wear that gives it a unique character. A showcase piece! It will be shipped without a pedestal, only the goose, so the buyer can mount it to their liking.
This goose belongs to a large collection that a US antique dealer living in Spain had.
