Description from the seller
Large authentic Balinese ceremonial gong with hand-carved twin Naga dragons – Indonesia – complete with stand and mallet
-------------------------------------
Beautiful authentic ceremonial gong originating from Indonesia (likely Bali), complete with a richly hand-carved wooden stand featuring two impressive Naga dragons.
The gong, 46 cm in diameter, is made from a traditional copper alloy (likely thin-cast bronze or brass) and produces a bright, warm tone with a reverb of about 9 seconds.
It bears a lovely dark patina developed through years of use. The original wooden mallet is still present.
The twin Naga dragons are traditionally hand-carved and painted in vibrant colors with gold accents. In Balinese culture they symbolize protection, strength and prosperity.
The gong produces a deep, warm tone and also serves as a striking decorative art object. Thanks to the combination of traditional craftsmanship, the fine woodcarving and the complete presentation, this is an attractive collectible.
It is in good vintage condition with normal signs of use appropriate for its age. A small damage on the rear in the woodwork and wear to the painting are present. See the photos for an accurate impression of the condition.
