Description from the seller

Silver cruet set in 800/1000 fineness with cut crystal – Hanau, Germany. German, Hanau, first quarter of the 20th century, from the workshop of Friedrich Reusswig (active 1903–1926). Table cruet or huilier-vinaigrier in 800/1000 silver, with a pair of decanters in cut and gilded crystal. Structure rests on a rectangular polished surface base, outlined by a molded frieze and raised on four spherical feet. In the center, a raised vertical column with smooth and raised sections, richly decorated with palmettes, acanthuses, scrolls and neo-classical botanical motifs, topped by a large pierced oval wing with opposing volutes. At the sides, two circular supports for the cruets, formed by molded rings and pierced structures of rich historicist decoration, with palmettes, stylized vases, flowers, leaves and scrollwork. Between them, a small central circular support. Pair of decanters in transparent, thick, faceted crystal, with faceted body, polygonal base, notched shoulders and necks marked by successive faceted rings. Decoration gilded with gold, featuring fillets, arabesques and botanical motifs. Large original corks, also in solid faceted crystal, frosted at the fitting and gilded in gold. Marked on the structure with the contrast punch “800”, corresponding to 800/1000 silver, and with a set of pseudo-hallmarks characteristic of Hanau production, including a mark consisting of a crowned “R”, compatible with Friedrich Reusswig. Shows normal signs of age and use, the base having been polished for a more sophisticated presentation. No fractures. Total weight: 2110 grams. Weight of the base: 985 grams. Dimensions: 32 × 23 × 10.5 cm.
