Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format work, Medsan portrays Tanjiro Kamado, the hero of Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba), in the manner of an ancient ukiyo-e print. Sword drawn and a green checkered haori, the young demon-slayer leaps across a plain of tall grasses, unfurling his Water Breathing in a stylized wave, while Mount Fuji rises on the horizon. The red cartouche bears his name and the signature is inscribed in the style of master engravers.
The visual force of the composition lies in its language of traditional prints: clear ink lines, delicate flat areas, clouds and waves with arabesques inherited from Hokusai and Hiroshige, aged paper grain and calligraphy-style cartouches. The character from modern anime fits perfectly into the vocabulary of Edo woodblock printing.
The impact of the work rests on this aesthetic obviousness: Demon Slayer, a saga deeply rooted in Japan’s Taishō era, here revisits the visual codes of the classic print from which it inherits. Medsan builds a natural bridge between contemporary manga and traditional Japanese art.
A graphic, dynamic, and spectacular piece, ideal for adding a pop, retro, and decidedly original touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite for manga fans as well as lovers of Japanese prints.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Located as a true artistic production space, the atelier operates both in collaborative creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, with a pop art orientation, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and supervised within the atelier, with a shared artistic requirement and an identity of its own for each artist.
