Esty O - Damascus

I am a contemporary abstract artist working intuitively with acrylics, layered textures, organic forms, and handwritten elements.

My work explores memory, heritage, nature, and the passage of time through atmospheric compositions that evolve organically during the creative process. Rather than following a fixed image, I allow each painting to develop through layers of colour, gesture, transparency, and texture, creating works that balance spontaneity with depth.

Inspired by landscapes, botanical forms, weathered surfaces, and fragments of personal and collective memory, my paintings invite viewers to form their own emotional connections and interpretations.

Each artwork is a unique original piece, created entirely by hand and guided by intuition, experimentation, and a fascination with the stories hidden within layers.


Damascus is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, a place where ancient walls, winding streets, and thousands of years of history hold stories of faith, conquest, and endurance. This work captures the city not as a polished historical postcard, but as a living,surface of time.

Deep blue, teal, crimson, and gold break through darker, earthier underlayers, creating contrasts that feel both ancient and unsettling .The result is a timeless portrait of Damascus — mysterious, layered, and marked by the presence of the past.
