Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate subjects acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic fragments. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it discloses a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” echoing the subject’s artistic universe. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough study is conducted on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated rear hanger. Printed on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a flexible UV- and moisture-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary appearance.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he is currently performing with the group FRENZY.
