Tsuba Sibayama zu (scene of hills with vegetation)

The Jakushi school is distinguished by its sansui-type landscapes, characterized by the representation of mountains evocative of the Chinese regions of Zangjiajie and Guilin. In these landscapes, composed of cliffs, rivers, bridges, and lakes, human figures are integrated, predominantly Buddhist hermit monks, as well as the presence of temples.

Made of iron, tate-maru-gata; with a mountainous landscape and a castle, executed in niku-bori in gold, silver and shakudo; kozuka hitsu-ana; signed (mei); maru-mimi edge.

Tsuba iron of an almost round shape, carved and decorated with a Chinese-style landscape (karayo sansui). On the obverse, the mountains rise at the top, while at the bottom right a castle in shakudo appears with hills beneath. The reverse continues the scene, with mountains at the top and hills at the bottom left.

The trees and plants are rendered in copper and gold
